NASHVILLE, TN – The Lady Hornets (8-15) will hit the road up to take on Belmont of the Ohio Valley Conference on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. at E.S. Rose Park.
 
Alabama State moved over the .300 batting average threshold as a team after raking 12 hits in an 11-4 victory game two on Thursday night at home against Tennessee State. 
 
Jenna Mae Thorne and Charlene Castro both generated big-time offense with three hits apiece in game two.
 
Thorne is the SWAC's hit leader with 31, the conference's leader in total bases with 43, and holds a share of the lead for most runs scored with 16.
 
Castro's five RBI performance in game two's victory tied Southern's Kiara Suttles for the most individual RBIs in a single game this season. 
 
Belmont (3-16) is led by Kayla Wells, who is batting .361 (22-for-61) with 13 runs and is 3-of-7 on stolen base attempts.

Moving up the list
Starting pitcher Melissa Christmann earned the victory in yesterday's 11-4 game two victory against Tennessee State after tossing five innings and striking out three batters.
 
The senior right-hander won her 18^th career game as a Lady Hornet to place her into a tie for fifth place all-time in Alabama State softball history on the wins list with Melissa Evans (1999-2001).
