Baseball Travels to Auburn

MONTGOMERY – Alabama State University's baseball team will look to continue its momentum from the past weekend as they travel up the interstate to face the Auburn Tigers at 6 p.m.

ASU (13-9) swept Mississippi Valley State over the weekend and will look to build on its three-game winning streak against an Auburn (10-10) team that lost two of three to nationally-ranked Texas A&M over the weekend.

The Hornets have the reigning SWAC player and pitcher of the week in Diandre Amion and Tyler Howe.  Amion hit .421 last week with three home runs, 11 rbi and eight runs scored.

Howe pitched a masterful game in the second game of the series.  He went the distance with 10 strikeouts during his nine innings of shutout baseball.  He only allowed three singles and didn't walk a batter in going the distance.

The Hornets will look to build on its 7-9 non-conference record against the Tigers who have won nine of the previous 10 meetings between the two teams.  All the meetings have been in Auburn including last year's 7-5 Tigers victory.

The lone win for ASU came during 2014 when the Hornets beat Auburn 9-3.

The game is scheduled to be carried live on SECN and Watch ESPN.  Check Game Day Central for all your options to keep up with the Hornets pursuit of a victory over Auburn.
