MONTGOMERY, AL – The Alabama State softball team will look to extend its' three-game winning streak when it hosts Mercer on Wednesday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
The Lady Hornets (14-18 overall) have won six of its past seven games overall after sweeping both conference opponents Prairie View A&M from March 18-19 and Grambling State from March 25-26.
Alabama State has raised its' team batting average to a conference-best .319 and also leads the SWAC with a 4.19 team ERA after a weekend it which it outscored Grambling 34-0 in three wins.

Alexia Boggess is the new leader among regular players for ASU in batting average as she leads the team with a .397 batting average and has two home runs with 20 RBI.
Maddie Phelps has established herself as the top pitcher of the staff with an 8-7 record with a team-best 3.03 ERA, seven complete games and 67 strikeouts in 97 innings pitched.
The Lady Bears (16-19 overall) are on a three-game skid after losing to Southern Conference rival Samford by scores of 11-6, 6-1 and 10-3.
Taylor Miller has been the top hitter for Mercer as she leads the squad with a .393 batting average with 22 runs scored and has successfully stolen 18 bases on 20 attempts.
Anna McNeill (4-6) leads their staff with a 3.45 ERA and has struck out 69 batters in 75 innings pitched.
Mercer won both head-to-head meetings with ASU last season in Macon, Ga.
"We've played much more competitively against teams from outside of our conference this season," said ASU head coach
Chris Steiner-Wilcoxson.
"When we played against Mercer last season, there was an error or two that let the game get out of control. We're looking for better results this time around."
