Military Appreciation Day to be held Tuesday


MONTGOMERY, AL –  The Alabama State softball team will hold a special Military Appreciation Day in a pregame celebration for a second consecutive year to honor those who serve this country.
 
Military personnel from Maxwell Air Force Base will be greeted with introductions beginning at 3:45 p.m. in the lead up to the game against Middle Tennessee that should begin shortly after 4 p.m. at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex on the campus of Alabama State University.
 
The Lady Hornets (7-13) will look to build upon a 3-1 record this past weekend in Irondale at the Tiny Laster Classic .
 
Alabama State boosted their team batting average 24 points over their past four games from .270 to .294.
 
The Blue Raiders (9-11) will be looking to shake off a four-game slide in the University of Central Florida Tournament played in Orlando, Fla. 
 
Middle Tennessee went 1-4 over the weekend with its lone win coming Friday in a 1-0 victory against South Dakota. 
 
Payton Grove leads the team with a .390 average while Danielle Munoz has provided the power numbers with three home runs and 12 RBI.
 
Jenna Mae Thorne leads the Hornets regulars with a .410 batting average while Charlene Castro has a team-high four home runs and 11 RBI.
