HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Alabama State men's tennis team hit the road for a rescheduled match at Southern Mississippi and came out on the wrong end of a 4-0 score.
Â
The host picked up the doubles point with wins at one and two doubles and was able to pick up the final three points with singles wins at one, five and six.
Â
The Hornets were playing without the services of senior
Ronald Mataba which hurt the team's chemistry as players had to move up a position starting at two singles.
Â
Mataba's absence also hurt in doubles as all three doubles teams played with different partners in the match.
Â
USM improved their record to 15-8 while ASU is now 6-9. The match was the final regular season match for ASU who will now play its next match at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament slated for Friday-Sunday, April 15-17 in New Orleans.
