HOUSTON, Texas - The Alabama State women's bowling team opened Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with the SWAC Round-up on Friday at the Emerald Bowl in Houston, Texas.

The Lady Hornets (28-39 overall) went 1-3 during the open day as Alabama State finished the day with a 828-727 victory over Southern.

In the win over Southern, Rebecca Hresko rolled a day-high 233 to pace the offense. Jessica Sawmiller rolled a 209, while Haley Young added a 205.
After one day, Hresko sits in third place in the individual standings, averaging 194,6 in four traditional matches. Sawmiller is seventh, averaging 176.6.

Alabama State began the day with a 754-956 loss to Texas Southern and fell in the second match to Jackson State, 817-900. The Lady Hornets dropped the third contest, 865-912, to Prairie View A&M, before concluding the day with a win over Southern.

Alabama State returns to action on Saturday, with the second day of the SWAC West Round-up in Houston, Texas.
