PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Alabama State women's bowling team finished Day 2 of the Rattler Invitational perfect, going 5-0, which included a win over No. 23 UAB, on Saturday.
The Lady Hornets (40-45) have won nine of the 10 matches played at the Rattler Invitational, losing their lone match on Friday to Bethune-Cookman.
Alabama State defeated host Florida A&M, 939-753, in the opening match of the day as
Jessica Sawmiller led the way with a team-high 221. The Lady Hornets followed that win with a 955-941 victory against Louisiana Tech as
Rebecca Hresko rolled a 232 to pace the offense.
In the third match, Alabama State defeated Southern, 982-827, as Hresko,
Haley Young and Sawmiller each rolled a 221, 219 and 204, respectively. The Lady Hornets routed rival Alabama A&M in the fourth match, 949-550. Gabby Hosien rolled a 209 to lead ASU, while Young finished with a 203.
In the final match of the day, Alabama State defeated No. 23 UAB by 22 pins, 888-866.
Tiarra Wilkins rolled a team-high 205 to lead the Lady Hornets to the win.
Alabama State will look to keep the momentum going as the Lady Hornets conclude play at the Rattler Invitational on Sunday.
