GULF SHORES, Ala. | The Alabama State University men's golf team finds itself one shot off the pace at the Gulf Shores Invitational after a weather-shortened opening day at The Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club: Marsh to Cypress.

Alabama State finds itself one shot out of the team lead due to the play of a trio of players who find themselves in the top five.
Quincy Stith leads the tournament after an opening round even par-72, just two shots ahead of his teammate Afnan Chowdhury at two-over par 74. Noel Sims rounds out the top five for the Hornets, sitting in a tie for third after an opening round 76 just four shots off the lead.

Alex Roxas finds himself in the top 15 for the Hornets heading into the second day of the tournament.

The Hornets shot an opening round 310, leaving them one shot behind Prairie View A&M for the lead and nine shots ahead of third place Texas Southern. They are also 17 shots ahead of Florida A&M in fourth and 18 ahead of Savannah State to round out the top five.

The tournament resumes Monday morning, weather permitting.
