D'IBERVILLE, Miss. – Rebecca Hresko was named to the All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) team and finished third as the Alabama State University women's bowling team swept Sunday's play at the East Round-up, defeating Southern, Grambling State and Alabama A&M.
Hresko completed the East and West SWAC Round-up's with 24 individual games and 4,609 total pins, averaging a 192.0 during those matches.
"The ladies really turned around this round up and I am very proud of them," Alabama State head coach
Andrew Chatmon said.
The Lady Hornets (50-50 overall, 12-12 SWAC) went 8-4 during the weekend, including winning seven out of their last eight matches.
Alabama State opened the day with an 830-773 victory over Southern as Hresko rolled a team-high 199. In the second match, the Lady Hornets defeated Grambling State, 864-742, with
Tiarra Wilkins registered a team-high 231. In the final match of the day, Alabama State rolled to a 880-558 win over rival Alabama A&M as
Gabrielle Hosein tossed a 208.
Haley Young finished SWAC play just inside the top 20 in the standings, as she averaged a 178.9 in 22 matches and 3,935 total pins.
Hosein and
Miranda Remmel finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the freshman standings. Hosein tallied 3,030 total pins and averaged a 168.3 in 18 games played. Remmel averaged a 164.6 and 2,798 total pins in 17 games.
Alabama State looks to keep the momentum rolling as the Lady Hornets travel to Nashville, Tenn., March 17-19 at the Music City Classic.
