MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University baseball team, coming off of a strong win against Ohio University, set aim for a weekend Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against instate rivals Alabama A&M.
The Hornets (3-6 overall, 0-0 SWAC) face off against the Bulldogs (3-7) in a three -game series starting Friday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
After wanting to set a tone offensively to get back in rhythm, the Hornets came out in huge fashion with a 12-6 win over Ohio on Tuesday in Emerson, Ga. Alabama State struck for 10 runs, all with two outs, in the third inning and coasted to the win.
The Hornets, winners of 25 straight SWAC victories dating back to the 2015 season, look to keep the momentum with the bats heading into the weekend.
The Bulldogs (3-7, 0-0) are coming into the weekend after winning one of four against Savannah State over the weekend and dropping their midweek matchup against North Alabama.
Last season, Alabama State swept the season series from Alabama A&M, and hold a 36-12 advantage in the series since 2009.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday. The series finale on Sunday will begin at 1 p.m.
