MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University baseball team, coming off a tough weekend, looks to get back into the win column on Tuesday night as the Hornets face South Alabama in their only mid-week game at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Alabama State (7-14) is coming off a series loss to Houston over the weekend. Meanwhile, South Alabama (11-9) enters the contest off a series win and took two of three from Georgia Southern in a Sun Belt Conference tilt over the weekend.
Over the weekend in Houston, the Hornets dropped the series opener, 10-2, and fell 4-1 during Saturday's game. In the series finale, the Cougars outlasted the Hornets in a 19-11 affair.
The Hornets are 2-15 in the series against the Jaguars dating back to 1987 and are looking to avenge the Tallahassee Regional loss last season to South Alabama (6-3).
First pitch on Tuesday is set for 6 p.m. at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex. Following Tuesday's game, Alabama State takes to the road for its next four games, starting Friday with a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against Mississippi Valley State.
