ASU set to face off against Samford in a home-and-home series

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University baseball team is set to square off against Samford in a home-and-home series starting on Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala.

The Hornets (5-7) are coming off a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against Alabama A&M, including a 5-4 extra-inning thriller on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs (5-5) come into the series having won two of three from Indiana to take the series.

Alabama State, who won a 13 straight home SWAC series dating back to 2013 on Sunday, visits Joe Lee Griffin Field on Tuesday night. First pitch for that game is set for 6 p.m. The following night, Wednesday, the Hornets play host to the Bulldogs at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex. First pitch for that game is also at 6 p.m.

Following the home-and-home series with Samford, Alabama State will step back into conference play over the weekend as the Hornets travel to Jackson, Miss., to take on Jackson State. The Tigers swept their SWAC series opener to Mississippi Valley State and lead the East Division by one game.
