MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University soccer teams opens conference play this weekend on the road for a pair of contests.

They will open play on Friday, September 22 against the Alcorn State University, with the match scheduled to kickoff at 4 pm. They will remain on the road as they travel to Mississippi Valley State University on Sunday September 24, with kickoff scheduled for 1 pm.

Alabama State (2-5) enters the weekend following a 4-0 road loss to Lipscomb on Sunday on the road. The Lady Hornets have won six consecutive matches in conference dating back to last season, and have a 10-game unbeaten streak with the only non-win coming against Jackson State on October 16 – a 0-0 tie.

The meeting between the Lady Hornets and Alcorn State will be the first since Alabama State recorded a 9-2 victory on October 23. In that meeting,
Lexi Krieger recorded a hat trick and
Ariela Lewis added one of her own.

Alabama State has won six of the last eight meetings between the two.

The Lady Hornets continue their swing in Mississippi when they face Mississippi Valley State on Sunday afternoon. The last time the two met, Alabama State came away with a 3-1 victory back on October 21 of last year. Lewis scored one goal in that match for the Lady Hornets.

Mississippi Valley State has won five of the last eight contests against the Lady Hornets.
