JONESBORO, Ark. | Alabama State finished 12th in the Mid-Winter Classic hosted by Arkansas State following the conclusion of play Sunday.

The tournament featured several of the top teams in the country, including the top five in the nation and the 22nd-ranked Lady Hornets recorded an upset of fifth-ranked Sam Houston State during the tournament in Baker play.

On the final day of the tournament, Alabama State (32-19) dropped their first best-of-seven series to 19th-ranked Louisiana Tech 4-1. The Lady Hornets dropped the first three games before forcing the fifth game with a 189-160 victory over Louisiana Tech. However, they fell in the final game of the series 235-161.

Following the loss, the Lady Hornets rebounded with a 4-3 victory over Valparaiso to advance to the next round of the tournament. Alabama State fell behind early 2-0, before coming back to win game three 188-144 and game four 174-171 to tie the match at 2-all. They took a 3-2 lead with a 165-149 victory in game five, before Valparaiso forced a deciding game with a 195-139 victory in game. However, the Lady Hornets ended the series with a 195-139 victory to advance.

In their final match of the day, Alabama State was swept by Maryville to finish 12th overall.
