PENSACOLA, Fla. | After the second day of the Rattler Invitational, 22nd-ranked Alabama State remains atop the standings of the eight-team tournament.

Alabama State (47-26) claimed four out of five matches on the second day of the tournament in Traditional play, totaling 4,431 pins on the day. The total raised their two-day total to 9,002 pins; more than 500 pins than second-place Florida A&M. The Lady Hornets also finished the day with a 180.0 average through 10 matches.

The Lady Hornets started the day with a 936-846 victory over Southern, followed by an 820-715 victory over Alabama A&M. They suffered their only setback of the day to the host, Florida A&M, 948-914 before reeling off a pair of victories to end the day.
Alabama State ended the day with an 859-772 victory over Bethune-Cookman, and a 902-789 victory over Belmont Abbey.

Individually, the Lady Hornets'
Gabrielle Hosein led the way with 961 total pins in five games, and finishing with an average of 192.20; finishing first by nearly 10 points in average. She was the lone Alabama State bowler in the top five, but
Jessica Sawmiller finished eighth with an average of 179.00.

Play continues Sunday with the best of seven series, and the Lady Hornets will face Florida A&M in the opening match beginning at 9 am.
