MONTGOMERY, ALA. | The Alabama State bowling team continued its strong play during the second day of the Hornet Classic, winning four of their five matches to place the Lady Hornets in prime position heading into Sunday's finale.
Alabama State (23-26) picked up a win over a nationally ranked opponent for the second day in a row, defeating No. 17 Louisiana Tech 983 – 886. Â
Gabrielle Hosein bowled a 237 and
Alize Stevenson finished with a score of 222 to lead the Lady Hornets in the matchup.
The Lady Hornets opened the day by continuing their early season dominance over Alabama A&M with an 868 – 694 victory. Four bowlers scored at least 175 to lead the way.
Tiarra Wilkins (232) led the charge in a dominating performance against Southern (939 – 808) and
Allison Sledge (223) was the difference in a narrow victory over Florida A&M (940 – 934).
Despite a score of 201 from
Bailee Chapman in a tilt with Jackson State, the Lady Hornets fell 866 – 930.
The tournament culminates tomorrow with bracket-style play as Alabama State seeks its first tournament crown of the season.
