Lady Hornets travel to Frost Classic

Alabama State will play five games in three days in Chattanooga

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | For the third consecutive weekend, Alabama State will play in a tournament. This time they will hit the road to Chattanooga to take part in the Frost Classic, playing five games in three days beginning Friday morning.

Alabama State (4-5) has played on the road for one tournament, before hosting their own tournament last weekend. This weekend will be a string of 16 consecutive road contests for the Lady Hornets before they return home in March.

The Lady Hornets open up with a familiar foe in UT-Martin, having played them last year in the Black and Gold Tournament in Montgomery; before facing them again in the NISC Postseason Tournament – a game which proved to be the first postseason win for Alabama State in school history. The game begins the day at 10 am (est), before the Lady Hornets face SE Missouri State at 4 pm (est).

Alabama State will play a pair of games on Saturday beginning with Western Illinoi at 11 am (est) and Western Michigan at 1:30 pm (est); before concluding the tournament against Eastern Illinois at 10 am (est).

Amira James leads Alabama State in hitting at .409 with four extra base hits, including a homerun and four runs batted. Casey Durham, the reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Week is hitting .400 with six runs scored and another eight batted in.

On the mound, Vanessa Bradford (2-2, 0.93 ERA) leads the way with 22.2 innings pitched, while Justine Jean (1-1, 5.07 ERA) has started five games for the Lady Hornets.
