MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road for a mid-week contest, heading to Tuscaloosa to face 29th-ranked Alabama at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
Alabama State (5-3) enters the game after winning their series over Southern this weekend, a series in which they scored 29 runs. The Hornets were able to get 14 runs in the opener and used a school-record 16 strikeouts to ease to a game one victory, before using five home runs in the second game of the series to pull away for a 12-6 victory.
This will be the second consecutive week for the Hornets with a mid-week game against an in-state foe, as they defeated UAB last Tuesday 7-6 in extra innings at home and falling to the Blazers 2-1 at Regions Field Wednesday.

Ray Hernandez, the reigning Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hitter of the Week.
Noel Cheneau made his initial appearance for the Hornets over the weekend, finishing the series hitting .656 with seven hits including a pair of doubles and a homerun.
Joseph Estrada (.357) and
Hunter Phillips (.348) continue to stay atop the team in hitting, with Hernandez (.324) close behind.
Hunter Allen (.321) and
Joshua Dunson (.304) are both over .300 for the season.
Alabama State will start
