SMYRNA, Tenn. | Alabama State won a pair of matches at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, held in Smyrna (Tenn.) and hosted by Vanderbilt.
Alabama State (61-32) opened the day falling to 11th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater 962-882, before bouncing back with back-to-back wins. The Lady Hornets defeated Southern 830-798, before defeating fifth-ranked Sam Houston State – for the second time this season – 941-825.
The Lady Hornets dropped a heartbreaker to 25th-ranked Youngstown State 925-924, before falling to Louisiana Tech 937-891 in the day's finale.
The tournament continues Saturday with traditional play and Alabama State facing Lincoln (Mo.) to start the day.
