MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State finishes off their 16-game road swing this weekend at the HBCU Tournament, hosted by Alabama A&M, in Atlanta.
Alabama State (5-16) returns to the field after dropping a midweek doubleheader to Samford Wednesday night on the road, a series in which they mounted a comeback in the opener before falling short.
The Lady Hornets will play five games over a two-day span, beginning with Savannah State at 9 am (est) Saturday morning. That will be followed by Maryland Eastern Shore at 11:30 pm (est), before finishing the day with South Carolina State at 4:30 pm (est).
The final day of the tournament – Sunday – the Lady Hornets will face North Carolina Central at 8 am (est), before wrapping up the tournament againast South Carolina State 1 pm (est).
Kristin Gunter leads the team with a .306 batting average with seven runs scored and three runs batted in.
Hatty Shope leads the lead in home runs with two, and is tied with
Casey Durham with nine runs batted in.
Vanessa Bradford (2-5) leads the team with 3.72 era and 34 strikeouts.
