MONTGOMERY, Ala.| Alabama State will play a pair of midweek games this week, both at home and on the road, but will start by hosting Mercer Wednesday night on "Autism Awareness Night."

Alabama State (17-23) enters the week  after sweeping South Carolina State and splitting with Alcorn State on the road in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action. The Lady Hornets will be home Wednesday, before hitting the road Thursday to face UAB at Mary Bowers Field in Birmingham.

Kaylee Davis leads the team in hitting at .320, with a double and 26 runs scored.
Kristin Gunter is hitting .306 with a pair of home runs and 18 runs batted, while
Charlene Castro is hitting .305 with a team-high three homes and 28 runs batted in. She is tied for the team lead in home runs with
Hailey Walker,
Amira James and
Hatty Shope.

Casey Durham is hitting .300 on the season for Alabama State with six doubles, a triple and a home run. She also leads the team with 20 stolen bases, while Davis has 11.

Justine Jean (7-8, 8.36 ERA), the reigning SWAC Pitcher of the Week, leads the team – and the conference – in innings pitched and has recorded 65 strikeouts. She struck out a career high 13 against South Carolina State last week. Castro (3-2, 6.86 ERA) has recorded a pair of complete games and has a save for the Lady Hornets, while
Skyler Sullivan (5-8, 7.23 ERA) has thrown 66 innings for Alabama State.

Alabama State and Mercer met last season in Macon (Ga.), with Mercer winning 7-2; while Alabama State and UAB will meet for the first time since 2013 when UAB swept a doubleheader.

First pitch is set for 5 pm against Mercer, while UAB game will begins at 6 pm. Admission is free to all home games played at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
