MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University soccer team continues Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play this week, returning home to face Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State.
Alabama State (2-6, 2-0 SWAC), fresh off two road victories to start conference play against Southern and Jackson State, begins the weekend with a 7 pm match against MVSU on Friday followed up with a 1 pm kick against Alcorn on Sunday.

Ashley Thomas and
Birgit Rijnders each netted their first career SWAC goal while
Gianna Guyot recorded her first shutout of the season, recording seven saves.
The Lady Hornets again turned to Rijnders against Jackson State and she delivered another game-winner in the second half against the Tigers in a 2-1 victory.
Alabama State and MVSU will meet for the first time since the Lady Hornets defeated the Devillettes 1-0 a season ago. The last time Alabama State and Alcorn met, the Lady Hornets were able to come away with a 2-1 victory back on September 22 of last year. Alabama State has won seven of the last nine meetings between the two.
