Lady Hornets finish day perfect 5-0

PENSACOLA, Fla. | Alabama State continued its streak of solid play with a perfect opening day mark (5-0) at the FAMU Rattler Invitational.

"It was an up and down day and the shot was tough for all teams, but the ladies scrabbled well and managed to close some frames; we must regain focus and execution tomorrow," Alabama State head coach Andrew Chatmon said, who has led his team to wins in 20 of 21 matches.

The Lady Hornets opened the day with an 879 – 708 victory over Alabama A&M. The Lady Bulldogs are winless against Alabama State this season. Following the Louisiana Tech match, the Lady Hornets dismantled Jackson State 977 – 874, their highest point total for the day. Wins against Grambling State (800 – 673) and Bethune-Cookman (935 – 663) closed out the round of baker competition.

Alabama State opens tomorrow against Southern before matches against Florida A&M, Alabama A&M Louisiana Tech and Jackson State.
