TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Alabama State concluded a successful 2019 cross country season with a performance at the NCAA South Region hosted by Florida State Friday morning.
Arion Span ended her cross country career with a time of 22:47.4 as the top finisher for Alabama State in the race, finishing 132nd out of 200 runners.
Shayla Sanders finished in a time of 24:15.2, while teammate
Mariyah Archibald finished in a time of 24:25.1.
Meanwhile, a trio of runners crossed the line within hundreds of a second of each other for the Hornets led by
Michaela Lewis in a time of 24:56.3. She was followed by
Vinnelle Grant at 24:58.5 and
Hannah Mezidor in a time of 24:58.6.
On the men's side,
Abdi Hussein was the lone runner for Alabama State in the race and finished 87th among 164 runners Friday, finishing in a time of 32:34.3.
The Hornets were the lone team from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in the NCAA South Region.
