@BamaStateBowl picks up pair of wins on final day of tournament

HOUSTON, Texas | Alabama State finished 13th overall in the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State Sunday, picking up a pair of wins on the final day.

Alabama State (12-15) began the day defeating Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foe Texas Southern 4-2 to advance in the winner's bracket. Alabama State jumped ahead 2-0 with wins in the first and second games (199-163 and 161-154). After the two teams recorded identical 189 scores in the third game, the Hornets pushed their lead to 3-1 with a 201-196 victory. They clinched the win with a 163-157 victory in the sixth game.

After falling to Jackson State 4-2, Alabama State responded with a 4-2 win over Upper Iowa after jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Following a pair of wins by Upper Iowa to pull within 3-2, the Hornets were able to clinch the win with a 135-131 victory in game six.

Alabama State returns to action next weekend in the Sonic Boom Invitational, hosted by Jackson State.
