JACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State picked up four wins on the opening day of the Sonic Boom Invitational, with a pair of those wins coming against conference opponents, Friday.

Alabama State (16-15) began the day with a pair of wins, with the first coming against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foe Southern 901-766. Their second win came against Drury, 974-918, before falling to Louisiana Tech – the only loss of the day – by a score of 974-918.

The Hornets bounced to close the day with a pair of wins, including one over SWAC foe Jackson State 953-917; before closing out the day with a 912 in a bye match.
Alabama State continues play in the tournament with traditional play Saturday.
