@BamaStateTennis prepares for back-to-back matches this week

Hornets travel to Mercer Sunday and host West Alabama Monday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | For the second time in the early portion of the 2019 schedule, Alabama State will play back-to-back matches on consecutive days. The Hornets will face Mercer on the road Sunday in Macon (Ga.), before facing West Alabama at home Monday afternoon.

The match with West Alabama for Alabama State (1-4) is a makeup from a match postponed due to weather back on January 23, and admission is free to all home tennis matches.

  • The match against the 20th-ranked Seminoles is the lone match this season against a ranked opponent by Mercer through the first five matches.
  • The lone win for Mercer came against Florida A&M in the season opener on the road back on January 10.
  • Nine different players have seen action in singles play for Mercer this season, with the nine players combining for a 9-21 record. The Bears are also 3-9 overall in doubles play.
