@BamaStateSB visits Mississippi State Wednesday Night

Lady Hornets play first midweek contest of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State will travel to Starkville, Miss. Wednesday evening for a midweek contest against Mississippi State.
 
First pitch is scheduled for 5:32 pm from Nusz Park and can be seen on the SEC Network.
 
A Look Inside Alabama State
  • The Lady Hornets are 5-3 overall following a 1-3 mark last weekend at the Black and Gold Tournament.
  • Alabama State finds itself near the top of numerous categories nationally. Charlene Castro and Alexis Massie are tied for first in toughest to strike out, as each player has yet to strike out this season.
  • Junior college transfer Alexis Sydnor leads Alabama State with nine hits despite only starting two games.
  • Amira James' two triples has her tied with sixth others for seventh place nationally. As a team, Alabama State is ranked 15th in triples per game.

  • The Lady Bulldogs boast seven players with a batting average of .300 or greater, led by Mia Davidson (.526, five home runs, team-best 10 hits).
  • Junior Fa Leilua leads Mississippi State with six home runs.
  • Emily Williams leads the Bulldogs in the circle with 31 strikeouts and Grace Fagan has the top ERA on the staff at 1.37.
  • Mississippi State boasts a record of 6-3 following an 11-3 win over Central Florida last Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs have dropped contests to Washington (7-5), Southern Illinois (4-1) and Stephene F. Austin (1-0).
