D'IBERVILLE, Miss. | Alabama State picked up three wins on the opening day of the HBCU/TNBA Invite hosted by Jackson State Friday in Baker play.
The Lady Hornets started the day with a 915-693 win over Alabama A&M, before dropping a 987-878 game to Florida A&M. After splitting their first two matches, the Lady Hornets reeled off another win over a conference foe with an 878-660 victory over Grambling State.
Alabama State split their final two matches of the day, falling to Jackson State 934-916; before picking up a 1,027-874 over Southern to finish 3-2 on the opening day of the tournament.
The Lady Hornets picked up 4,656 pins on the opening day of the tournament, the third-highest total of the tournament. They also bowled an average of 186.2 on the day.
Alabama State returns to action Saturday in traditional play against Virginia State on the opening day of the tournament.
