@BamaStateBB hits the road for pair of midweek games, beginning with Georgia

Alabama State comes into the week having won 2-of-3 conference contests

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road for five straight contests, beginning with a pair of midweek contests in two different states. The Hornets begin the trek with a Tuesday game at Georgia with a 4 pm first pitch.

The game will be aired on the SEC Network + from Athens (Ga.).

Alabama State (7-4) enters the week off of a pair of conference wins against Mississippi Valley State, and are 4-3 in non-conference games thus far this season. The road games will be the first of the season in midweek action after their first two – South Alabama and Alabama – were postponed due to weather.

The Hornets will send AJ Stinson (0-1, 81.00 ERA) to the mound for his first career start against Georgia (9-2), who will send Tim Elliott (0-1, 0.00 ERA). The Hornets had three players this past week hit .350-plus, including the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hitter of the Week Eriq White. The redshirt junior hit .500 over five games – three against conference opponent Mississippi Valley State -- collected 11 hits in 22 official at-bats, scoring nine runs and knocking in another seven runs. He also collected a pair of doubles and walked three times. He finished the week accounting for 16 runs, having a slugging percentage of .591 and an on-base percentage of .560.

Yamil Pagan hit .381 with two stolen bases, nine runs scored and eight runs batted in (accounting for 17 runs in five starts). Pagan recorded a double and a pair of home runs against Mississippi Valley State, posting a slugging percentage of .714 and an on-base percentage of .500. Meanwhile, Noel Cheneau picked up 10 hits in 24 at-bats with three runs scored and another nine runs batted in, while recording three doubles, a triple and a home run. He also finished with a stolen base, an on-base percentage of .417 and a slugging percentage of .750.

The Hornets enter the contest hitting .315 as a team, including 32 extra base hits and 18 stolen bases. Meanwhile, Georgia is led by LJ Talley at the plate hitting .447, while the team is hitting .289 with 36 extra base hits.
