MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State will travel to face in-state foe Troy in a non-conference contest set for 6 pm at the Troy Softball Complex.
The two teams were scheduled to face each other back on February 21 of last year, but the game was cancelled due to bad weather.
A LOOK AT THE LADY HORNETS
- Alabama State is 16-13 overall and 7-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play after defeating Jackson State this past weekend.
- Alexis Sydnor leads the offensive efforts for Alabama State after recording a two-run triple on Sunday, raising her batting average to .440 batting to go along with three homeruns and 21 RBIs.
- The junior leads five other Lady Hornets hitting above .300 on the season including Vanessa Bradford (who is also 6-5 in the circle) and Kristin Gunter who is second on the team in extra base hits with nine.
- Charlene Castro leads the team with a 2.53 earned run average after registering four strikeouts and a pair of hits in the 13-11 victory over the Tigers. Meanwhile, Justine Jean leads the Lady Hornets in innings pitched, appearances and strikeouts.
A LOOK AT TROY
- The Trojans enter the week after sweeping the season series against UT-Arlington for the first time in school history, to improve to 25-13 overall and 8-4 in the Sun Belt Conference.
- Katie Webb leads Troy with a .360 batting average, one homerun and 22 runs batted in.
- Leanna Johnson leads the Trojans in the circle with 142 strikeouts and is ranked 12th nationally with 15 victories.
WHAT'S NEXT
- Alabama State will remain on the road, traveling to Itta Bena (Miss.) to face Mississippi Valley State in a conference series.
- First pitch is set for 4:30 pm on Friday with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 pm.
