@BamaStateSB continues road swing at Mississippi Valley State

Lady Hornets continue conference action after facing Troy Tuesday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action when they hit the road for a weekend series against Mississippi Valley State beginning Friday afternoon.
 
The series is scheduled to start with the first game Friday at 4:30 pm, and a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 pm.
 
A LOOK AT THE LADY HORNETS
  • Alabama State looking to get back in the win column after falling short to Troy 5-2 on Tuesday night, having won their first three conference series of the season.
  • Alexis Sydnor improved her batting average to .442 after recording a hit in her last outing, while Hailey Walker recorded her fourth home run of the season, hitting .314 through 30 games.
  • Sydnor and Vanessa Bradford have each added a pair of home runs each.
  • Charlene Castro is one of five other Lady Hornets hitting above .300 while also controlling the mound where she has recorded a 2.53 earned run average. Meanwhile, Justine Jean leads the team with 55 strikeouts and innings pitched. 

A LOOK AT THE DEVILETTES
  • Mississippi Valley State dropped their series against Alcorn State last weekend, losing all three games – dropping their third consecutive conference series.
  • Freshman Jade Arroyo led MVSU with six hits and three runs batted in over the series, and she leads the team in hitting with a .324 average.
  • Alyssa Montes leads MVSU in the circle with 35 strikeouts and an earned run average of 3.75.
  • Mississippi Valley State enters the game with an overall record of 3-26, and they are seeking their first conference win after opening 0-9 in conference action. 

WHAT'S NEXT
  • Alabama State will conclude the series on Saturday at 3 pm in the final game of the doubleheader.
  • The Lady Hornets will return home to face Alabama A&M on April 12-13.
