OXFORD, Ala. – Arion Span led all Alabama State runners in the Strut's Season Opener hosted by Jacksonville State Friday night with a top 12 finish.
Span finished 12th overall on the women's side with a time of 15:11.10, with the top 13 runners in the women's race all coming from in-state schools.
Vinnelle Grant finished in the top 35 with a time of 16:24.80, with
Mariyah Archibald not far behind with a time of 16:29.70.
Shayla Sanders finished with sub-17 race, crossing the line in a time of 16:52.20 for the Lady Hornets who finished sixth overall.
Meanwhile, the men finished ninth overall in the season opener with
Abdi Hussein crossing the line in a time of 16:15.20 to lead the Hornets.
Matthew Kibet finished with a time of 16:41.90, while
Daniel Quizon finished at 16:48.90.
Alabama State returns to action next in Montevallo (Ala.) at the Falcon Classic.
