MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State looks to rebound from back-to-back losses against in-state competition, traveling to Samford Friday for a non-conference matchup.
The game is set to kick at 7 pm and will be the first of two road games this weekend.
TAKING A LOOK BACK (3-2 LOSS AGAINST JACKSONVILLE STATE)
Alabama State (1-4) fell against Jacksonville State (3-3) at Montgomery Soccer Stadium inside the Emory Folmar Soccer Complex.
Isabella Beortegui and
Janae Brown gave the Hornets a 2-0 going into the half, however, the Gamecocks rallied to force overtime, where the Hornets ultimately fell after a Jacksonville State goal in double overtime.
TEAM LEADERS
Beortegui continues to lead Alabama State with three goals, while five other players each have scored a goal each through four matches.
Meaghan Fielding,
Kayla Tillman,
Fabienne Balvers, Brown, and
Ashley Thomas each have scored a goal this season.
McKenna Wiscombe leads the Hornets with three assists, while Fielding has two assists this season through four matches.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Samford (2-2-2) enters the match off the heels of a loss to sixth-ranked Florida State, 6-0.The Bulldogs come into the game against Alabama State having split their last three matches with a win, loss and tie.
Alyssa Frazier leads the Bulldogs in goals with two on the season in six contests.
