CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. | Alabama State fared well in the Chattanooga Twilight ran Friday night, with both teams finishing in the top three of their respective races.
On the men's side, Alabama State finished second overall with 48 total points, finishing behind Chattanooga (15 points) and ahead of Tennessee State (77 points) in the Men's Division I race.
Matthew Kibet finished 35th overall for the Hornets on the men's side with a time of 23:04.00; while
Abdi Hussein finished 40th overall with a time of 23:19.69.
Daniel Quizon finished just outside the top 50 with a time of 24:05.66.
On the women's side, Alabama State finished third overall with 79 points, finishing behind Chattanooga (29) and Georgia State (32). They also finished ahead of Alabama A&M (104) and Tennessee State (142).
For the third consecutive week,
Arion Span finished in the top 15 of a race; finishing 14th in a time of 14:54.41 (just one second back of 13th overall). Meanwhile,
Shayla Sanders finished 30th overall with a time of 15:47.71; while
Mariyah Archibald finished with a time of 16:05.24 to finish in the top 40.
Alabama State returns to action September 28 after a week off at the Charger Open in Huntsville.
