MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced two additions to the Strength and Conditioning staff for 2019.
Joining director
Lonnie Brown and assistant coach
Brandon Buskey this year is
Mary Willis in her first year at Alabama State.
Willis joins the Alabama State staff after an internship at Huntingdon College where she was the primary for men's and women's golf. She also assisted in the daily operations of strength and conditioning with football, softball, wrestling, men's and women's soccer, and women's lacrosse. During her time at Huntingdon, she was also responsible for facility set up, breakdown and maintenance.
DeCedrick Quinn, who has been on staff since last fall, is now the Associate Director in the department after he joined Alabama State for the first time in strength and conditioning as an intern in 2015 under Medgar Harrison, before taking over as the head strength and conditioning coach at AHSAA Class 7A Jefferson Davis High School. From there he accepted an internship position at Marshall University in the Spring of 2018 where he worked with head football strength and conditioning coach Luke Day, and Director of Olympic Sports strength and conditioning Duval Kirkday.
He soon left and accepted an internship at Mississippi State in the summer of 2018 under head football strength and conditioning coach Anthony Piroli, who is not the head strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Quinn returned to Alabama State in the fall of 2018 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for SWAC champions in cross country (women), indoor track and field (men and women), outdoor track and field (men and women), tennis (women) and golf (women).
The two join Buskey who served a pair of internships at Wake Forest and Auburn, where he began serving those in October 2017. While at Wake Forest, Buskey assisted with the physical preparation and administrative duties for the Olympic sports. He directly assisted with 12 different sports while at Wake Forest, while also supervising the nutrition station.
