MONTGOMERY, Ala.| After a pair of games on the road to open the 2019 season, Alabama State returns home to face Faulkner in their home opener Tuesday night at the ASU Soccer Complex.
Kick is set for 6 pm, and admission is free to all home games.
The home contest is the first of two this week, as the Lady Hornets will also host Jacksonville State Sunday afternoon.
TAKING A LOOK BACK
Alabama State (0-2) dropped a pair of contests on the road to open the season, falling to Fairleigh Dickinson back on August 22 and UTRGV on August 24. The Lady Hornets' lone goal came from
Fabienne Balvers against FDU, earning her All-Tournament honors.
RETURNING LEADERS – ALABAMA STATE
Alabama State has five All-Conference selections from a team last season that recorded five shutouts. The Lady Hornets scored 26 goals last season, using 18 assists to do so en route to reaching the conference semifinals.
Teaggan Ilela returns as the team's leading scorer with four goals and five assists (13 total points), while
Kayla Tillman added three goals and a pair of assists (eight total points).
Meaghan Fielding added a pair of goals and assists.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Faulkner makes the trek across the city to face Alabama State, as the Eagles – who are from the NAIA – have played four matches this season. The Eagles opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Point, before they reeled off a pair of four-goal victories over Ava Maria and Jarvis Christian. In their last match, the Eagles tied Texas A&M-Texarkana 0-0.
