DALLAS, Texas | Alabama State won three of their five matches on the final day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) West Round-up Sunday afternoon, finding themselves in second place heading into the next leg of conference competition.

Alabama State (7-3, 7-3 SWAC) won their opening game of the day by 100 pins over Jackson State, 932-832, before dropping a game to Texas Southern 813-803 in their second game of the day. After dropping their second match of the day to Prairie View A&M (898-809), the Lady Hornets responded with back-to-back wins over Southern (905-838) and Grambling State (880-528).

Savanna Razor led the field on the weekend with an average of 204.60 (2,046 total pins) during ten games, leading Crystal Cline of Prairie View A&M, who finished with an average of 202.20 (2,022 pins) in 10 games. Emani Davis is currently fifth overall in the conference at 181.13 (1,449 pins) in just eight games, while freshman Emily Price is eight overall at 178.33 (1,070 pins) in six games.

Miranda Remmel (169.67) and Bailee Chapman (167.50) round out the top 20 for Alabama State.

With the overall top average of the opening weekend, Razor leads all other freshmen as Evan Smith of Texas Southern is second at 178.40. Price is third among all freshmen in the tournament for the Lady Hornets.

The tournament is the first of two that will determine the regular season conference champion, and Alabama State finds itself one game back of Prairie View A&M following the West Round-Up.

Alabama State returns to action the weekend of February 5 in the SWAC East Round-up in D'Iberville (Mississippi).
