HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State shot a final round 9-over (297) to win another tournament this fall, capturing the Alabama A&M Fall Invite at the RTJ at Hampton Cove by six strokes.
The Hornets led wire-to-wire after an opening round 6-over (294) before following up with an even-par (288) second round to finish at 15-over (879). They held off Florida A&M, who shot 9-over for the final two rounds to close to within six strokes at the end (21-over). Evansville finished third at 26-over (890), while Tennessee State came in fourth at 34-over (898).
Max Adams (London, England) charged up the leaderboard on the final day with an even par (72) to finish four shots back of the leader, Santiago Ballieres of Jacksonville State. Adams finished the tournament at 1-over (217), while teammate
Gonzalo Moreno (Seville, Spain) finished tied for third after a final round 3-over (75), while
Thomas Caddell (Vance, Ala.) rounded out the grouping of five golfers in a tie for the third spot.
Meanwhile,
Ty Roberts (Canyon, Texas) finished tied for ninth at 5-over (221) after a final round 6-over (78).
Thacher Neal (Kingsland, Ga.) and
Bishop Stringer (Cecil, Ala.) both finished inside the top 30 after identical final round 3-over (75) scores.
Alabama State returns to action next week at the SWAC Fall Invitational in Birmingham to close out the fall portion of their schedule.
