JACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State wrapped up the first two days of competition at the Sonic Boom Invitational in third place with 9,111 totals, including 4,584 today in traditional play.
Alabama State (29-20) started the day with a 918-891 victory over the host school Jackson State, before dropping back-to-back matches to ranked teams. The Lady Hornets dropped a 976-929 match to No. 16 Tulane before falling 1,028-928 to No. 9 Louisiana Tech. They were able to bounce back with a pair of wins over Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foes Florida A&M and Grambling State.
They defeated Florida A&M 876-860 before a 989-653 win over Grambling State.
Lyric O'Steen (Southfield, Mich.) led Alabama State with fourth place finish with 1,001 pins and a 200.20 average. She was followed by
Bailee Chapman (Gonzales, La.) in 15th with 907 pins and a 181.40 average,
Savanna Razor (Columbia, S.C.) in 16th with 902 pins and a 180.40 average, and
Emani Davis (Flushing, Mich.) in 17th with 895 pins and a 179.00 average.
The tournament concludes with a best-of-seven series on Sunday.
