JACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State split a pair of matches on the final day of the Sonic Boom Invitational, hosted by Jackson State at Fannin Lanes, to finish third in the tournament.
Alabama State (30-21) opened the day with a 4-0 sweep of Jackson State to move on in the bracket, beginning with a five-pin win (223-218) in the opening game. They won the second game by the same margin (194-189), before being able to win by 11 pins (204-193) in game three and 16 (213-197) in the fourth and deciding game.
The Lady Hornets moved to the next round where they fell to second-seeded and No. 16 Tulane 4-1 to finish third overall. The Green Wave were able to jump out on Alabama State 3-0 before the Lady Hornets won by 10 pins in game four (181-171). However, Tulane was able to win game five 195-182 and would later beat No. 9 Louisiana Tech for the title.
UP NEXT
Alabama State returns to action next weekend at Bowlero in Montgomery (Ala.), hosting their only home tournament of the season beginning Friday and running through Sunday.
