MONTGOMERY, Ala. |Â The Alabama State University bowling team will take part in three days of action at the ISTAP Hornet Classic here in Montgomery. The three-day event begins Friday and will be held at the old Brunswick Lanes in Montgomery.

The tournament will feature several teams including No. 11 Louisiana Tech, Alabama A&M, Emmanuel College, Florida A&M, Grambling, Jackson State, Southern, Tusculum and UAB.
The tournament will consist of a three-day schedule with lane draws taking place Friday morning at the coaches meeting. The entire tournament will use a scratch scoring system and will be based on match wins and losses. Teams will compete in five Baker-style matches on Friday beginning at 8:45 am.

The teams will compete in five Traditional-style matches on Saturday, beginning at 9:15 am, before being seeded on Sunday based on total pins for the bracket round for a best of seven series to determine the winner. Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the tournament at 12:30 pm.

This weekend's play will be a return to action for Alabama State, after competing in the Sonic Boom Invitational in Jackson, Mississippi last week where they clinched third.

Lyric O'Steen (Southfield, Mich.) led the way with the highest scoring average on the team at 200.20, while three other Hornets finished in the top 20 –
Bailee Chapman (Gonzales, La.) finished 15th with a score of 181.40, followed by
Savanna Razor (Columbia, S.C.) and
Emani Davis (Flushing, Mich.) who finished 16th and 17th at 180.40 and 179.00 respectively. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
