MONTGOMERY, Ala. | On a day that Alabama State celebrated a pair of seniors, the Lady Hornets finished second at the ISTAP Hornet Classic falling to No. 9 Louisiana Tech in the finals.
Alabama State (40-24) made the finals by winning a pair of matches early in the day beginning with a win over in-state foe UAB, 4-0. The Lady Hornets wasted little time in the match by winning frame one by seven pins (192-185) and the second by 65 pins (218-153). Alabama State finished off the sweep with wins in game three (224-163) and the final game (205-178).
The Lady Hornets jumped on top of Emmanuel in the semifinal round by winning the first two frames, 200-147 and 203-167 before Emmanuel would tie the match up. However, the Lady Hornets would win game five 191-160 before finishing off the match with a 210-201 win in game six to advance to the championship.
In the championship match, No. 9 Louisiana Tech jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and looked poised to sweep before Alabama State roared back with a two-pin win in game three 191-189 to set up the fourth game. In that fourth game, Alabama State tied the match at 2-all with a 221-164 win before the Bulldogs would win the final two games including game six by a score of 168-166.

Following the match, Alabama State celebrated the careers of
Bailee Chapman (Gonzales, La.) and
Emani Davis (Flushing, Mich.) playing their final home tournament. The Lady Hornets are off until January when they return to action in conference play where they have won 26 of 29 matches against conference opponents this fall.
