PRATTVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State finds itself in striking distance on both the men's and women's side, of the ASU Spring Kickoff Classic after the opening round Sunday.
On the women's side, Alabama State finds itself in second place after an opening round 33-over (321) that leaves them six shots behind the leader in Murray State.
Alma Garcia leads Alabama State with a nine-over that has her in sixth place, while
Kei Harris and
Tia Kimbrough are each tied for eighth after identical 12-over scores.
Jade Sanders finds herself tied for 13th after an opening round 14-over.
Alabama State finds itself third overall in the men's standings after shooting an opening round 30-over (318) Sunday morning.
Noel Sims and
Thomas Caddell find themselves tied for fourth in the tournament after identical opening rounds of 5-over par (77), while
Bishop Stringer is tied for 13th overall after an opening round 81.
Thacher Neal (83) and
Afnan Chowdhury (86) are both in the top 25 after Sunday's round. Alabama State is 11 shots behind the leader Murray State, and just one shot behind second place Western Illinois.
