D'IBERVILLE, Miss. | Alabama State and Prairie View A&M battled throughout the pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Roundups, and the two squared off in the final game of the tournament this weekend.
Alabama State (15-5) finished one game behind Prairie View A&M (16-4) in the regular season standings after play was complete Saturday afternoon, with the Panthers winning the title in the last game over Alabama State 1,007-882. However, the stage was set for the final match after the Lady Hornets won four consecutive matches to open play in the East Roundup, stretching their streak eight before the match with the Panthers.
The Lady Hornets claimed wins over Alabama A&M (903-794), Texas Southern (909-796), Jackson State (847-828), and Grambling State (828-645) to set up the final game. Both Alabama State and Prairie View A&M ended the SWAC East Roundup with identical 8-2 marks.
Savanna Razor ended the weekend third overall with an average of 195.90 in 10 games, while finishing second overall in the conference with an average 200.25.
Emani Davis finished ninth overall with an average of 179.44, while
Miranda Remmel finished 11th with an average 177.78.
The Lady Hornets return to action February 19 at the Mid-Winter Classic, hosted by Arkansas State.
