MONTGOMERY, Ala. |Â Alabama State will play their first Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game since the Spring of 2019 this weekend, hosting Texas Southern beginning Friday afternoon at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
The series begins with a 3 pm first pitch Friday afternoon and will continue with the second game of the doubleheader that day. The two teams will conclude the series with a 3 pm first pitch scheduled for Saturday afternoon on ESPNU.
Alabama State (4-15) enters the contest following an 11-2 victory over North Dakota back on March 10 and a pair of rainouts this week against Jacksonville State and Auburn. The Lady Hornets will take the field 13th time at home Friday afternoon.
Jaeda Gardner leads the team in hitting at .314 with 11 hits, including a double, and three runs scored. Meanwhile,
Jazmine Dodd, the reigning SWAC Hitter of the Week, is hitting .288 with 15 hits – three doubles – and eight runs scored, while driving in another seven. In the circle,
Skyler Sullivan, the reigning SWAC Pitcher of the Week, leads the team with a 4.79 earned run average and 34 strikeouts.
Due to COVID-19 protocols and socially distant seating, entry into the Barbara Williams Softball Complex is by Player Pass List only. Alabama State University and its athletic venues are mask-mandatory at all times.
