Alabama State fourth headed into day two of SWAC Championships

ARLINGTON, Texas | Alabama State finds itself in fourth place after the opening day of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Bowling Championships.

Alabama State (25-12) dropped their opening match of the championships 936-910 to Texas Southern, before having a match off and rolling an 847. They followed that up with an 882-820 victory over Alabama A&M in their second traditional match of the day.

The Hornets dropped their third match of championships against regular season Prairie View A&M 1,116-858.

The competition rounds begin on Saturday and will continue through Sunday with Baker format (best four of seven) will be utilized. Teams will be seeded one through six based on their total pin fall in the qualifying tournament with the top two seeds receiving a bye.

The champion will be crowned at the conclusion of the tournament on Sunday. The championship match will air tape-delayed on ESPNU on March 29.
