HUNTSVILLE, Ala. |Â Alabama State finds itself on top of the leaderboard of the AAMU Invitational after the first two rounds Monday.
The Hornets shot an opening round 12-over (588) on opening day and hold a two shot lead over DePaul (14-over 590) and followed by third-place Arkansas-Pine Bluff (15-over 591). Miles finished the day 22-over (598), while Snead State and Alabama A&M rounded out the competition with a 36-over 612 and a 95-over 671 respectively.
Alabama State had all five golfers finish in the top 25 with
Afnan Chowdhury led the way for Alabama State in through the first two rounds shooting 5-under par (141) to finish with the lead heading into day two, whileÂ
Bishop Stringer is tied for eighth with an day one 4-over par (148).
Thacher Neal finished the day tied for 12th, shooting 5-over par (149).
Noel Sims finished the day 19th with an opening day score of 153, and
Thomas Caddell 23rd with a score of 155.
Play will conclude on Tuesday with the final round.
