MONTGOMERY, Ala. |Â Alabama State and Alcorn State will meet for the first time this season in a three-game weekend series at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Alabama State (6-11) enters the three-game series after falling to Troy on Wednesday at Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium. The Hornets have dominated the series with their last loss being a 5-3 meeting on April 12, 2014 in Lorman.
Reigning SWAC Hitter of the Week
Trenton Jamison leads Alabama State at the plate, hitting .371 with 26 hits, including four doubles and four home runs, while also scoring 14 times and driving in 17 more runs.
Cristopher DeGuzman is hitting .345 with three doubles, a pair of triples, a home run and 13 RBI for the Hornets.
Meanwhile,
Ryan Velazquez (0.00 ERA) and
Payton Harris (0.59 ERA) lead the team in earned run average out of the bullpen, while
Austin King (2.38 ERA) and Pooler (2.96 ERA) lead the starters.
