NASHVILLE, Tenn. | Alabama State ended the Music City Classic with three wins on the final day of competition in the tournament hosted by Vanderbilt.
The Lady Hornets picked another win over a ranked opponent on the final day, giving them four wins over nationally-ranked opponents including a pair of top-10 teams. Alabama State started the day with a 4-3 win over Tusculum after splitting the first four games, before falling down 3-2 with their backs against the wall. Alabama State answered with a win in game six (162-135) and a convincing win in the deciding seventh game (234-145).
Alabama State returned to action in the next round against 23rd-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater and promptly walked away with a 4-2 victory. The Lady Hornets won the first two matches and went up 3-1 by winning the fourth game (177-167) and won the match overall in the sixth game of the series 202-160 to set up a match against conference foe Jackson State.
The Lady Hornets won four consecutive games after falling behind 1-0, winning the fifth and final game of the series 152-128 for the win.
